Day 19 - Sculpting

This Wednesday, I learned how to create a new collection using M in order to create a collection of a specific amount of objects (In this case, I made a copy of the donut just in case if I want those settings back later to apply).

Another 2 neat hotkeys I learned was firstly "F' which unlike Photoshop where the brackets change the size of a brush, the F can actually do that in the Sculpting tab and that holding down control and left-click using the brush can make an object subtract back where the cursor is.

Finished product for today

Tomorrow, I will do a bit more sculpting for it to make the icing stick as well as move on to rendering.

Day 18 - Modelling

For this day, I learned a few new hotkeys as well as a new option - Subdivide. The first hotkey, H hides a selected area and by using alt + h you can get rid of the hidden area. The second hotkey I learned was E, which extrudes an area and adds more mass. Also, I learned that Subdivide is an option where you can split vertices to make smaller edits to a mesh.

After learning those, I learned about an option in blender called the Snap option which is useful for having the mesh snap to certain faces instead of colliding with an object and ruining it.

And finally, using some more options listed above in the drop-down menu such as "Project Individual Elements" option, I finished the drop effect over the donut.

Day 17 - Adding Icing to the Donut

Today, I learned how to use modifiers to make a semi-good looking icing on a donut. Firstly, I learned that using the hotkeys on the keyboard can change the perspective. This is helpful because how I'm going to make the icing is slice the top half off of the donut and put it on top of the donut.

Secondly, I figured out that by doing Shift + D on your keyboard you can duplicate a selected area, and with this selected area using P you can make it into it's own object. And finally, I added a modifier that increased the icing's thickness to make it look more like icing.

And that is all! Tomorrow I will be giving the donut the appearance of icing dripping off of it.

Day 16 - Modelling the Donut

This Friday, I learned about how to edit surfaces and rig them so the donut looks more diverse and has more interesting surfaces to look at.

Here's what I started off with: a simple torus shape.

Using the add option I learned in previous blender tutorials, I changed the donut so it was a more realistic size to be what a donut actually looks like.

This is the beginning where I began to misshapen the donut to make it look less like one of those tubes found at a water park - as no donut is that perfect. I also learned about a new tool called the proportional editing object tool as well as edit mode where I was able to make this happen.

And here is the final product for the end of tutorial!

Day 15 - Blender Fundamentals 5

For today's tutorial, I learned all about how various menus work and how you can create shapes and edit them using the button "tab" at will.

The first menu that I was taught about was the add menu which can be used to create various shapes that may be difficult to create otherwise and also offers other options such as the lighting option which can brighten up a scene in post-processing.

After that, I figured out how the object menu can be used as an alternate way to delete objects other than simply the delete key and that ctrl + z, like in  Sketchup also represents going back on an action.

And finally, I learned about the "Vertex Context menu" which can be used to delete or alter certain surfaces involving faces on objects.

Day 14 - Blender Fundamentals 4

Today, I learned how to use some more useful keys involving rotating objects and scaling them in Blender. The first key I learned was alt + g which resets an object to it's origin point. Next, after that I learned how to rotate an object using r and scale it with s. I also learned that any key using alt usually involves resetting an object after a setting is applied to it, such as alt + s and alt + r which resets rotation and scaling.

Day 13 - Blender Fundamentals 3

Today, I learned a few new keys in the Blender editor. The keys I learned were the ones where you can select all, deselect all or select individual keys (A, Alt + A, Ctrl Click + Left Click). I also learned that you can use a sub-menu in order to select individual objects as shown below.

After learning those keys, I learned that there was a way to select objects behind an object by using the grid feature and that by holding down left click to move an object that you can make it return to it's original point by releasing the button with a right click.

And that's all I learned today! Tomorrow, I shall be learning more about the rotation and scaling of objects.
